View Full Version : Mt Washington wind record broken
According to this:
http://wmo.asu.edu/world-maximum-surface-wind-gust
Old Record = 231mph (Mt. Wash)
New Record = 253mph (Barrow Il.)
Funny part is - I just got back from the hardware store buying hardware to mount my anemometer. My current max wind speed for the year is 22mph measured today at 10:09am.

Accuweather supports the MWO record, but I'll have to get home before I can read why because of work's new, more aggressive, web policies.

I don't buy it.
Barrow Island needs a tropical cyclone to gust that hard. Washington just needs to be in the mood.

The 'new' record? It says it was back in '96 that it happened. Why are we only hearing about it now?

New record? Looks like a lot of wind according to this report:

It's new because the World Meteorological Organization, a UN group, has certified it ... here's a partial story that will be in tomorrow's Nashua Telegraph:

I don't buy it.

As an offical act of mourning: I installed an anemometer:

Nice setup M@!
I agree about not buying the BI record....
Methinks it is suspect.
