I've done Tucks and Hillmans twice, both times were around April 20th. I chose April because I have a long drive and it is a safer bet that weather won't be a factor. How different are conditions in March?? Are conditions considered better in April? When does the snow pack usually become safe (end Feb.? mid March?). I don't want to waste a day to find out I should have just waited for April again. Thanks for advice.

2 years ago I hiked Tucks in March only to find it was a complete white out. I had to turn around.Last year I made 2 trips to Tucks in March and had no problems. It all depends on the weather. Your best bet would be to call a head and find out what they are predicting for weather. Just don't get upset if you drive all the way up there and then hike only to have to turn around.I have a 3 1/2 hour drive and it's happened to me. April has much better weather so you might just want to wait till then.
