Anyone know what to look for in wide angle :camera: lenses? Will any that fit the camera do, or are there things to look for or avoid?

I think that it depends on the effect that you want. I found that a 24mm was plenty wide angle. The lower the number the more the rounded, fish eye effect you'll get. It's been a while since I played with my SLR...went digital. I'm sure others here will have better advice. :disinfo:

I go about as wide as 28mm. It gives me the best options without any distortion for interior shots I need to take. True fish eyes are fun to play with. I used to have a fish eye adaptor for my SLR which was cool cuz I could use it with my zoom too.

It's for a digital camera. I'm curious about what effect they have on resolution, clarity, etc.

DMC is right about the stictch...no distortion.

The 20mm lense shows noticable distortion, 24mm will show some, but most eyes can't notice any at 28mm.

I believe the camera you got has a fairly wide lense already. However, Olympus offers two grades of WA lenses and filters. I'd go with the pro-grade to minimize effects on clarity and preserve motion freezing exposure times on those dramatic wide angle close-ups. The coatings are better and more durable, and the glass is usually a far better structure, although I can't actually say for sure on the Olympus. It certainly is true for Nikkor accessory optics for SLR lenses.

Thanks, RR. :lips:
That's exactly what I needed to know.
