Water source?

Planning on heading up in a few weeks and wondered if there is a water source around the shelters? I've day tripped the past two years and would like to actually do an overnight this year. How early do you have to get to Pinkham Sat morning for a permit?

Plenty of untreated cold water is available out of the Cutler just past HoJo's. We always filter ours (PUR Hiker), but that's up to you.

Good luck on getting into a lean-to on Saturday morning. I've never tried on a weekend, we usually arrive on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

BTW, bring along about 50' of parachute cord to suspend your food & garbage so the squirrels can't get to it. DO NOT leave ANY food in your pack.
