Hey Skimum...I like your new motto. Last time I skied Tucks was May 1982 before graduating UNH...haven't skied since. Spending too much time at the Jersey Shore chasing waves and big fish. Took up snowboarding this year with my 12 year old son, and we are doing pretty good. My goal for next year is to do Tucks. I don't know if it will be from the top, but the goal is there. Like to try Hillmans too.

Attitude makes the difference.

I've heard recently that Tenney Mountain in Plymouth, NH is going to have snow-tubing all summer long starting the middle of next month (June). They are introducing some new kind of snowmaking process that is projected to allow them an opening date of October 1st this year!!! That's only 4 months away!!!

Also, there are these things called Mountainboards and all terrain skates for the very brave. Let me just forwarn you of a couple things. Make sure that you pick a nice easy slope to start with. A gentle slope with nice thick grass to bail on. Unfortunately I learned the hard way. First I am a skier and I have never snowboarded in my life, but I have one-ski waterskiied. On my second venture out I went to Tenney (was closed) and hiked up to where I felt comfortable. I had my full hockey pads on to ensure that I didn't get hurt, YEAH. I walked myself down the mountain and drove my standard truck with one arm, because the other one wouldn't move. This is all one week after my first trip to Tucks. So, be careful and I might be selling my board sometime soon ;)

If your looking for something fun to do during summer... Try a Diggler out!!!
Diggler Web Site (http://www.diggler.com/us/) These things are so much fun... You can rent them at some ski areas.

10e has Snow Magic....In fact they are owned by Snow Magic. They plan to open for skiing in early-mid October. Boy, won't that frost the folks at K-Mart...bad enough they got beat in the first to open race last season by a little place in RHODE ISLAND! Now they are gonna get whumped for the next 5 years by 10e.

By the way, the OB skiing at 10e is really cool, chutes, drops, jeep trails. BTDT* & WDTSM*..hey it's private land and ripe for all manner of discretionary skiing. Season's passes are a steal and the steep terrain is exactly that!

Grins for 10e...go Dan go!

* BTDT duh
* WDTSM = Will do that some more!

This 10e information has me very interested. I have been wanting to ski there for years, but no family time to steal. Wee one #1 turns 3 this year and I'm putting her on the snow for the first time. Looking at Tenny it looks like the perfect Family Destination for us.

RR (or others who have skiied there): Is this place gonna challenge me enough? I realize it'll be a trade off - I've been a huge sugarbush fan for years, I know lotsa stashes there. Will I find stashes at 10e? It's really convientent for us (InLaws on the way!). I'm thinking of picking up 2 season passes right now.

10e used to be home to a really kick ass racing program....their kids used to slaughter the competition when I was just a young caveman.

Well, with Dan Egan running the whole shooting match for 10e dontcha think there's a few gems hidden away....Hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge!!

There's a few nice steeps on piste and I have sampled the woods and drops on far skiers right (aka south). Riding up on the chair (lamentably slow, for the time being) there's plenty of time to put a glass on the cliff band gullies and chutes to the north (skier's left)

If you have a fast connection check out the Snow Magic (http://www.snowmagic.com/main.html) website.

Tuckerman aside, in New England I have never skiied outside of the Green Mtn. State. 10e sounds like it could make a good weekend trip next winter!

RR,

You said it man. You (almost) cannot beat the 'bush. I friggin love that place. The Castlerock chair is what dreams are made of. I love ducking into the woods off of Middle Earth, especially on a powder day! That is my second favorte mountain in VT-- behind the almighty Jay, of course. :D

Discussed 10e with folks I ski with, and was talked out of buying passes. I hear it's really small. But a $200 pass is hard to *pass* up. I'll definatly check it out this year tho.

Castlerock: yes, is lovely. Slidebrook is my fav, even though it dislocated my arm once.

Elwwod....do you go to smuggs at all?

PJ,

Funny you ask, because I actually had a pass at Smuggs this past season. Love being able to drive a mere 35 minutes to the slopes... Madonna is fun, but you find me on the Sterling lift most of the time, can't beat the woods back over the pond...
