Are snowshoes necessary (or recommended) to hike the trail in this time of year? I'm planning on heading up this Saturday.

Anyone have any recent conditions updates? It looks like they've received some snow and possibly more this weekend. anyone want to offer predictions for this Saturday (4/7).

Once in a while, I'll see an individual or group of people w/snowshoes starting up the trail - I don't think I ever remember seeing anybody finish the hike with them though.

I think that most of the time, snowshoes will hamper your progress seeing that the trail is usually well packed out. I would imagine though if it's really early in the season and/or there is a substantial amount of fresh snow then they would be a good idea?

I tried snowshoes in Jan. a few years ago. I found that if anybody has post-holed in front of you, you don't need snowshoes.

April till early May about the only thing that makes sense are good hiking boots and crampons (if you have them).
