Speaking of cookstoves....
I bought a Primus Multifuel Cookstove last spring. The think sounds like a jet engine when I fire it up. It's way louder than the MSR stoves. Anyone else have or heard one if these babies.

Primus sucks.
Oh, you mean the stove... No I've never heard that one, but I have an MSR Whisperlite International, and that thing is pretty darn loud...

I bought a Primus Multifuel Cookstove last spring. I have a multifuel... Thing will burn anything from gasoline to 151 rum...
Primus is touring this Fall... Les Claypool is a god amongst bassplayers...

yeah the Whisperlite International I have is a multifuel as well... Awesome, but I wouldn't burn the 151 unless I really had to.
DMC where did you hear about Primus touring again? I thought they were done, did Brain come back?

DMC is your crazy loud. I stayed with a bunch of guys in a lean too last year and they had and MSR International and it was nowhere near as loud as mine.
It's a MSR - It's not that loud...
My friends all have propane powered stoves and I find them to be VERY loud....
I didn't bring it last year... MISTAKE!!!
I was at the mercy of other peoples stoves...

DMC. Don't you dare burn the 151. That is alcohol abuse!
I have a 10 year old Whisperlite. Works Great. But if it fails, I can fall back on my Svea 123.

I thought my MSR was loud, but I guess I have only heard it up against other MSR stoves... How loud is Primus? I know when I saw them live the last 12 times, they were pretty fuddgy loud...
So DMC, where did you hear about the new tour?
Oh wait, I keep getting off topic...

Looks like I'm taking a trip to Montreal!!! Wicked Wanda's here I come!
What's the real benifit to a multi fuel? Are you often without a choice on feuls? I suppose you could carry 151 and use it instead... one less container.
I'm shopping for stoves.
People on long hikes use them a lot...
If your on the AT and run out of white gas you can always run into a gas station or liquor store and refuel...
Or just hit a McDonalds.. I guess...

The biggest benefit of multi fuel stoves is when you are in an area where you can't get white gas. Extended backpacking trips out of the country, for example...

I just liked the idea of not being stuck if I ran out of fuel. I could beg, borrow or steal someone elses.

I have an MSR Dragonfly, and that thing is pretty loud, although I've never compared it against the Primus stoves. Definitely louder than the MSR Whisperlites though. I know someone who has an old (20-25 years probably, although I don't know for sure) MSR expedition stove, and that thing is LOUD!!!
Those MSR Expeditions sound like jet planes taking off...
Never seen primus.
I bet I never will.
Unless they have a ravine show.

I saws Primus there in 95 (I think) with the melvins and it was unreal. I have seen primus like 10 times as well....Saw them with fishbone too at a small venue in Toronto.
Come with us we'll sail the seas of cheese...

Come with us we'll sail the seas of cheese... I have to admit, I am a little upset that they aren't coming to Burlington. They used to make this town a regular stop. Les even lived here for a few months while making the Oysterhead album. But, I'm always stoked to go to Mtreal. Yeah, Primus sucks, I've seen them around 10 times as well. always a kick ass show!
