One day closer to the first snow. I am getting anxious. What am I saying, I've been looking forward to it since the end of June.

Glad I'm not alone.

Went out the garage side door this morning, and the skiis I took to tuckerman in April are still leaning against the wall (as opposed to hanging with the rest of the skiis).

Quick view fo the skiis, and then a brisk morning put a little dance in my step.

Went geocaching with the fam on tuesday, and was hiking down little trail here in NH and was doing jump turns in antici....(say it!)...Pation.

You are definately not alone in this crew...

I started pulling all my ski stuff together last night.. Going up to the mountain I ski at this weekend to stash my stuff in the ski locker...
Keeping some back for that first day at KMart..

I'm ready..

Remember when you first started skiing and it was such a big deal to pull your stuff together to go for a day..?
Now - it takes me a minute...

Gear Together: Yeah, you learn to not use your ski stuff for anything else. Now-a-days I have SKI glove, SKI hat, SKI socks, etc. Used to be all that crap was dual use. Even my jacket now is for skiing only. The old ski-jackets kinda graduate our of ski use into regular use. Except my 10yr old north-face mountain light. That goes to tuckerman every year.

I also found I have all my tuckerman stuff together, last trip took me maybe 5 min the night before, and that was just finding the right long underware.

Pulling your stuff together? My skis are still in the hallway, by by the front door...

Our gear is all lying at the foot of the bed like loyal companions. If only we could train it to fetch beer.

Bannick- Wow! I'm impressed. I always drew the line at sleeping with my skis...

Yeah mum, skis are a little hard and cold to sleep with. The edges can rip you up too... Best to leave them in the garage... :)

Skis also liked to be wined and dined as well..
- Light some candles(for wax)
- Put on a sexy movie(Hotdog)...
- Start of with a little slow de-burring and work your way to filling in those little divets with some petex(A little kinky but it's OK)
- Then apply the wax and rub the wax in using a circular motion... They really love that...

Just don't expect them to be there when you wake up.... And if it's a powder day - they never call... :)

oh yeeeeaah....
a little tuning
hot waxing
p-tex candling
scraping off the excess.....
a little directional texturing for ultra smooth glide. Not too smooth though..just enough to break the surface tension....

mmmmm surface tension.......

I'll be right back.....

That's just little too kinky for me..

Nothing mounting (bindings) new skiis.

Nothing mounting (bindings) new skiis. You gotta drill 'em to mount 'em... Seems backwards.....

Snowboards are trashy - they come predrilled... In the olden days we had to drill them ourselves..
Right through the bottom...

And lots of times the screws would pull out at the worst times... Leaving you flapping around...
We just rescrew and slam petex into the hole on the bottom...

But you gotta make sure your screws are good and tight or the mounting job just feels sloppy....I'm going to hell

seriously...
The kids today should have to live with what we had to go through in the olden days of snowboarding.. Crappy Sims bindings that unbuckled on hard turns and didnt adjust...
Burton boards with skeggs and beveled bottoms...
things have change drastically...

Who knew what I was going start this morning. Must be a slow day for everyone.

Bannick

I know what you mean DMC...I tried all kinds of bindings to find ones that didn't release on me at speed. Delamination was a real problem too. I have only been riding for 10 years but I learned and rode hard on some old/cheap borrowed hand me down gear. We used to get people into it and they would by old boards with bad nose and tail shapes (Bert Lamar Trick Stick by Look)and cut them down to make them look better and not be so stabby.

I was at work at 5 this morning....am busy as hell but I dont drink coffee or smoke so I take my breaks in other ways. Stupid work!

Wait I feel another urge coming on.....

mmmm base grinding.
I could grind bases all night long especially if it is dumping.

Too far?????

I learned on Burtons and Barfoots...
My friend Randy worked as a Burton rep for years and years...
He used to break out his old Burton with the beveled base - side and middle skeggs during the spring.. The thing is a monster... You try and carve and your going down... Hard...
He made all the kids he sponsored ride it so they could get an understanding of where the sport was at the time...

My first good board as a Burton AMP6... Rode it a couple of seasons then burned it for an ULLR sacrifice...
