View Full Version : Tucks Ice
Over the last two days (Oct 19 & 20) the ice formations in TR have grown convincingly, as seen by the cam from the Kitty.
The Cascade section looks B2T!

Climbers in HR last week. Ice Season has begun.....for those crazy french Canadians anyway.....you gotta love 'em!!!
Personally, I am looking forward to enjoying some early season ice in Tux within the next few weeks, before the snow becomes the primary focus. RR, you game???

That is some serious Mixed Climbing, not to mention Insane!
Canucks
He's got a piolet (or maybe an X-15) hanging at his right side, whether it's cliped to his harness or in his right hand, I can't tell.

From the report I read, it didn't sound all that bad. Ice was solid and well-bonded, and took 13cm screws, but did require that open water crossing. jumpturn and I encountered similar conditions when downclimbing the icefall at the bottom of Pipeline Gully a couple years back - fun stuff!!! I think it's clipped... if you look at his midsection, you can see the shaft of the right hand axe planted...

It looks like one of those Grivel "third tools".

I'd concurr, it a grivel third tool. Nice shots, althoug alittle early for me. Rob, remember the early Tux trip we had a few years ago. Alittle like gardening on the third pitch as I remember.

Yeah Rob, although we had less bonded ice to work with
One ramp in particular just flat out gave me the willis!
