I was heading over the border to hike some October turns tomorrow (I couldn't today or fri-sun), however lapping at $25, sounds pretty good to me too. Especially that I'll have a "pot-pourri" of old ski equipment to get together (Blame it on Argentina ).

Decisions, decisions.

now a base of snow that i can rely on in october gets me WAY more excited to ski than fast grass. i may even pay the 25 bucks to ski and party on saturday.

The current forecast for early next week looks like a bit warmer. That, along with the TRs here, plus this

(From the Sunday River site)

are making it difficult for me to resist the urge this weekend and ration my limited resource of trips up north in order to spread them throughout the season on a wee bit more snow. Will logic prevail?

will be open thurs thru sunday guns will be blasting. they will be closed next week mid-week and try to open again following weekend. nothing is guaranteed for all anyone knows this 4 day window could be it for them in octo. if mother nature doesn't cooperate.. so if your itchin for turns on a base, I'll see you at the riv. I'll be ridin sat+sun mornings and maybe thurs-fri afternoons!! love the commitment the riv. makes for bragging rights!!!:)

I'm trying to figure out their system.... The T2 trail is open via access from the Locke Mountain chair. But once you reach the end of the trail, what happens from there since it does not go to the bottom? Is it required to hike back to the top?

The Locke Mountain Triple, I believe, has a midstation which would allow downloading to the base.

start at barker lodge walk over to the locke triple, catch ride to the top. ski or ride T2 to the mid station of Locke triple hop back on, done deal!! want a break or just want to leave, hike down or go to mid-station and ride down!! maybe t2b by sat. big windows for snowmaking in the next 2 days!!:)

temps starting late weekend for the following week will be at or above freezing at night with upper 40's to low 60's during the day. it'll be amazing if they don't have to close for a couple few weeks till sometime in november.

I hate to rain on your parade, but isn't it suppose to be raining this weekend?

I was planning to ski tomorrow, so I decided to head to SR.

Don't look for the pink poles Rog, not sure what I'll have?

Skis? From junkboards straight Rossi 7S or the Fels @ 200+ to great skis SL11 @ 157. Maybe some XXX?...it depends what I'll ski and the conditions of the hill.

Clothes...I got a new jacket, the rest is at least going to be 15-25 years old.

I'll be there Friday. I'd rater pay $25 and do laps at this point in the season until I get my legs back.

I hate to rain on your parade, but isn't it suppose to be raining this weekend?:cry:It's not a parade yet, not until the Santas descend. It can rain in October, that's OK. December onward? You know what you are supposed to be doing, New England. Don't let all the whining wish-I-lived-in-North-Carolina nonsense convince you otherwise.

if i go, it will be saturday, believe it or not. i can't remember the last time i skied on a weekend lift served. if i'm gonna do something as silly as ski this time of year, it may as well be a party. plus, they could go t2b by then.

i was taking saturday off for something else, so, if for whatever reason i can't take saturday off, it may be friday. or, i may just wait a few weeks till the season starts for the duration.

Oh come on Rog, you are one fickle pickle. You change you mind more than the Mrs.
"I'm going, I'm gonna wait, I'm going, I'm gonna wait"
Just go already.....
BTW, do you have shop program set up for the season? if you stay south, maybe you can focus on that:)

hey, it ain't so bad to be fickle. i do happen to score some of best terrain in the northeast with the best possible conditions all winter/spring up high.

being fickle also saves yer a$$ and potentially others while navigating potentially dangerous avi terrain. not just bangin around here and there without thought and foresight.

there's no doubt, i am a hem'r and a haw'r at times. i just like things to be right, or the way i like em.

Don't think we have to worry about avoiding any avalanche terrain quite yet. I'm just ribbin ya', hate to see you order off a menu with no substitutions. Nothin' wrong with having it your way. Hey, maybe you should eat a Burger King.
See you later today. Gotta get some stuff for the Himalaya.
No freeze on the seacoast this morning, sadly. My bucket isn't frozen:(

love the commitment the riv. makes for bragging rights!!!:)

Reminds me of K-Mart....Hopefully Boyne, unlike ASC, can keep the white in the black.....if you know what I mean. Of course, $25 Lift tickets to support snowmaking....I don't know if the bragging rights are a worthy investment.

Anyway, I've never skied SR. So, if climbing doesn't work out this weekend I might head up that way :) The Skis are in the car!!!

I'm slowly convincing myself to make the road trip (9 hours). Saturday looks like the most likely day. Black ski suit, grey poles (leather straps, no less), old (early parabolic) dark blue Rossis.

real nice. no photos. however on my way home grabbed a digi. cam so I will post a compilation on sunday or monday (going to try to get out 1-3 times in the next 3 days.). got out of work @ 11:30a @ riv 12:30p that includes stop for pizza @mallard mart in bethel. however took 1/2 hr to get my season pass. did 11 runs on T2 from 1:15p-3:15p. conditons were most similiar to early spring small bumps, soft snow= real nice!!:) no scratches on the board. maybe not that 6" of fluff 2 days ago at the loaf, but better than 80% of the snow conditions compared to loaf from that day. if ur looking for a true base, it's there. t2 is buried and looks like small man made covering on lower sunday punch to the lodge, guns are in the ready position for some blasting tonight, they could be t2b tomorrow or sat. stayed tune.. oh yeah downloading with foliage on locke chair with views of snow capped grafton notch =spectacular!

base baby, base baby, 1-2-3!

saturday could be t2b with temps near 50. could be as good as it gets all winter cept for pow days and full cover corn days in spring. man made base and warm temps=good skiing. hope it's very bumped up. bumps make timing easy and a given.

see you saturday

Defintely...view coming to Dixville Notch with the Balsams Wilderness trails all white and leaves red and orange....wow.

Beautiful...bring your elbow pads this weekend, you might need to fight for space if they don't open T2B (it might be hard to do - pretty warm today at the bottom and they didn't blow snow lower than the mid).

We'll likely be there Saturday too. Don't know what I'll be wearing or skiing, but I'll be with a guy on blades.;)

Rocks skis need not apply. Was there today, there was plenty of coverage on the one trail. Nice soft bumps too... definitely worth it.
