Lisa & I are thinking of flying out for one of these (see Dates & Locations, left sidebar):

The courses are not close to full yet--would be nice to get an east coast invasion going, though. Jackson will probably be COLD in January - I'd expect to be seeing funky facets!
Beuller?
Any reason why you'd pick AAI over AIARE?

Hopefully be heading to Jackson in Jan, over the MLK weekend. Sounds cool, but honestly, I wouldn't want to lose a day of sliding out there for this course!

Any reason NOT to? Course seems similar. AMGA accredited. 40 hours. As compared to at least one level 2 course that I found, in Utah, that was only 30 hours. We will have to see if they accept Lisa's National Ski Patrol intro+fundamentals course as an acceptable prereq (or my somewhat outdated Level I).
Mainly it comes down to location and timing. This is a January course, therefore it gives us the rest of the season to build on it. Alaska, Utah courses aren't until March, if I remember correctly.

I took my Avi 2 last spring and I found it really frustrating that they're generally only offered at the end of the season, just in time for you to forget everything over the summer.
