I have been tasked with a return to the roots gear selection for a major retailer that is tired of the epithet "LL Bauer".

BC sliding focus:
I have my skiing setups but I am flummoxed as to which snowboard bindings for split boards...the Voile is obvious for mountaineering boots but I need a sturdy mid level and sturdy advanced binding options for snowboarding boots.

Also, boots for same.

Splits under review are the Voile and Burton, big names and great included stuff like skins or skins and crampons. Gotta cover a lot of ground but hold the line on stock room space.

Thanks!

PS Helmet rec's appreciated, again Price point and better are the target, looking for removable ear pads to stay with the BC application.

Happy Trails!

RR,

For a helmet rec., I can vouch for the ProTec "Freeride" helmet. It is light, comfortable to wear, and comes with detachable ear flaps. You can see the helmet and details at: http://www.pro-tec.net/

Re the ProTec "Freeride" helmet: How's the heat buildup while you are skinning in for some turns?

Burton Mission Bindings are great on a split board. They're pretty light and have a medium flex. They retail around $200. Just about any binding will go on the Bruton Split system..
Also check into Flows - I need to check them out someday... Cool pseudo-stepin system...

I believe my Christmas gift to myself will be a pair of Burton Driver boots. They have lots of support and a retractable spike system.. Dont ask me how it works.... But I must possess it...

I haven't ridden the new Burton Split - my split is based on a Burton Custom - but I'm pretty sure they've gone to just one split board design.

That being said... I ride Never Summer (non split)snowboards.. I think they are the best for riding wacky terrain and conditions that people like us love so much.....

Seriously drop me an email and I can put you in contact with a friend who's a tech rep for Burton..

So far so good. Surely there are more BC boarders out there. Your beta will be a great help and get another retailer started off on the Goofy Foot (old surfing term I picked up during my efforts at skatboarding).

DMC, that's a great idea, please check your mail.
Thanks,
Rob

"Re the ProTec "Freeride" helmet: How's the heat buildup while you are skinning in for some turns?"

Never skinned with it on, but I hiked up Hillmans a few times in late April last year and it wasn't bad without the ear flaps. It's easy enough to just clip to your pack for the skin/hike in if heat buildup becomes an issue.
