feeling almost guilty...

...at not being upset that there is not more snow than when I left. :p

I just arrived back from North Captiva Island. It was :sun: :sun: :sun: and :shorts: :shorts: :shorts: . The island has no internal cumbustion engines so we drove around in golf carts.

:margarita: and driving is a given, indeed, most people have :margarita: in their cup-holders anytime after noonish. The beach was sand so fine that it put our pit skiing to shame, but I had no skis :( . and there was nothing steep enough anyway.

I can't help but not feel relieved that I spent all this time at the beach in a veritable tropical paradise and not have missed any good skiing. I was pleased and amazed to see an MRG bumper sticker on a golf cart!!!, on a tropical isle!!!

Unfortunately the guy driving it had no idea what it meant :o

All I can say is that I am pleased to be home in snow country, and I confess, pleased that I haven't missed anything like a big first dump! :)

We'll just say you were "fasting" in a way. Now you can crave the even finer than sand white even more than before. Glad you had a good time.

I'll be on my own trip the first two weeks in January. A 5-6 day hiking trip in Big Bend, and then a 7 day cruise to Mexico, Jamaica, etc. I'll definitely miss the snow by the end of it, and I plan on bringing some sort of ski memorabilia to stick on a golf cart!

Does anyone else find it funny how Beach Bums and Ski Bums while preferring nearly opposite locals are extremely similar?

Hey Ski Las,

Is North Captiva the little island just off the end of The Plantation? If so, I remember when there was nothing there and they were trying to sell the whole island for a mere $2 million, which was probably a bargain. But me and $2 million would never happen.
