Father's day I decided to start off right and put on my favorite pair of underwear. I like to tell myself they help me through the day and father's day this year was a pretty good day spent with the family and chicken wings and steak tips.

Anyhow - the reason I post here is because this is the particular pair of underwear that I wore hiking UP the headwall in 2006. This pair of underwear is NOT pictured in this smiley: :ng2006:

Which reminds me - I gotta go find that citation that I framed and mount it on the wall next to the ski rack.

Amazing what we think of when life's little tragedies play out.

Because a bad pair of shorts can mean an uncomfortable and even miserable day, allow me to recommend replacement based on well-earned, confirmed-over-the-years, personal preference:

EMS Men's Techwick Silkweight Boxers (link (http://www.ems.com/catalog/product_detail_square.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=8455 24442598931&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302889013)) better fit than the Patagonia Boxers (another very good choice) and just as durable. (delicate subject follows)

The button makes a big difference when ascending steep inclines, as it reduces the....inadvertent flop and trap that a non-button fly allows after the elastic waist has lost some of its newwness (Patagonias are notorious for that)
