I owned the ravine yesterday(July 1st)! There were no other skiers there(plenty of dumbfounded hikers on the ravine trail though). I had some of my best Spring(Summer)runs to date. I took 18 runs with an average of 12 to 20 turns per run. The left bowl still has some incredibly great snow that is not that dirty. The center is choppy and dirty but skiable. Don't miss out on this little Summer miracle!! Snowman......
P.S. If Tenney Mt.really does keep its glacier open, New England could finally have a 12 month ski season! How cool would that be????

It would be better for my limbic system than for my employment status.

Yeah, you might be forced to move up here, :mumster: :snowflakes: For a few more years, I'm :atwork: in Philadelphia. :( As soon as I can shirk my responsibilities, I will immediately move somewhere with better :snowflakes: .

Only then will I be able to fulfill my true mission in life - to be a TOTAL SKI BUM. :D

Any snow in great gulf or the cone? I'd like to drive the auto road and ski.I need to stay away from black flies(deadly to me) and being higher up in alpine zone helps greatly.

bfast, no one seems to know as no one seems to have been there recently enough. This picture though shows a possible patch of snow. scroll down to the cam shot from the summit of Mt Washington.

here's my report for last saturday (jun 28):

Went hiking w/ the Mrs. and her parents yesterday, so while they drove up
to Cow Pasture and started cutting across the Alpine Garden slowly (he's an
amateur botanist, so many plants were carefully scrutinized), I hiked up
from Pinkham to tag the summit, then descended to meet up with them on an
alpine circumnavigation. Besides being a fun outing in perfect weather, I
scouted out what might be all of the remaining snow East of the Miss.
(except for Gaspe, which then again is kind of its own world).
- First up was an overview of Tucks from Lion Head. About the same
amount of snow as when I skied there last year on July 7. Upper Lower
Chute (i.e., just below the narrows of the hourglass) seemed to offer some
fairly safe and relatively lengthy skiing (measured at about 140 vert last
yr). Many fresh tracks. (Also overheard an account of how some hapless
would-be skier fell near the top while still climbing, sliding to the
bottom with his skis tumbling out of his hands toward the rocks, complete
with a crowd of 20 onlookers.)
- I was then encouraged to see that a small patch of snow remained of
the Upper Snowfields: about one legit short-radius turn, or several hop
turns.
- Jefferson had one micro patch of snow and one very small snowfield
(good for a few legit turns).
- Great Gulf had two small patches of snow near the bottom of
Pipeline.
- I searched in vain from the Gulfside Trail for the section of
Airplane that one of the Weather Observatory staff skied a week ago. We
even descended a few hundred vert down the jumble of steep loose rock that
goes by the name of the Great Gulf trail. Maybe I was looking in the wrong
place, but even it still has some hidden snow, it would have to be a very
short stretch.

According to gwest's report, he said that the patch is not viewable from Mount Washington but is viewable from the Northern Presis. That's all I know....

[QUOTE]More about tenny HERE @ Snowjournal (http://www.snowjournal.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpBB_14&file=index&action=viewtopic&topic=2774&14) WOW! There is an AMAZING photo of a snowy trail with more snow being made. Someone on that list called the photo "snow ****" and I have to agree! Must...go...ski...
