First Tracks - MA?
Tha Dawg (finally) got some turns in to begin the 2003-2004 sno journey.
Didnt feel like making the hike to Flatkemo or K-mart to fight crowds this morning, so ended up heading to Jiminy Peak (Small area in the Berkshires of MA).
I had never been here (or anywhere in Mass for that fact), but was pleseantly suprised....They had a fast 6-pack lift spinning, and with no crowd, never waited in a line once today...ended up pulling maybe 15 laps on nice-soft-spring-like groomers.....calves are a little sore, but was great to be back on tha snow....and back to tha flatlands in time to catch the 4:00 games.. :D
one unpleseant note - Riders if ya ever go - they enforce leash laws.
I seriously thought the guy was kidding....I dont think I've had a leash on my board since 97-98??
Any how being early season their shop was closed....ended up borrowing one from their rental staff.....the whole episode amused me...but I guess ya gotta leash tha Dawg!!!!! :cooldog:
Weather looking :badwords: for the upcoming week....time to do the :snowflakes: dance (again)..

Hard to believe all the mountains opening up and here we are farther north with nothin except the baby slope at Edelweiss, and the rest of the week getting warmer, up to 11C / 52F by next weekend! Maybe I should get out camping for a bit before I get desperate and go 'patch' skiing
Awsome contratulations on 1st MA. And congratz on dealing with the leash law in style, an awkward situation to say the least.
I have leash on my binding but I never use it... Unless Im at TUX...

i have one that goes form the binding and attaches to a split ring on the toe laces of my boot. I keep it on and use it....pretty much every resort I have been to in Onterrible has leash laws. So I use it everywhere as I am a creature of habit.

I guess ill get one now so i dont have to scramble looking for one. Kinda strange they dont care about leashes at wachusett? I'll find some tree runs somwhere in there I'm sure.

Yeah I dunno - maybe because it was early in the season they were cracking down or something?? Enjoy !!

I have leashes on my tele skis -- but they're made of some frayed 1/4" rope I had laying around my trunk. I didn't put them on just to comply with the rules; with my pseudo-releasable bindings, if one of them comes loose, there'd be a 190cm missile straightlining down the fall line.
On the subject of board leashes, I used to ski Beaver Mt. in northeasternmost UT when I lived in Logan. It's a smallish family mountain, a great place to ski, with plenty of the deep and good backcountry access. They also sell tickets to only the lowest lift on the mountain, "Baby Beav", for learning skiers and riders. Snowboarding seems more popular there than where I ski in the east, and many times did we have the experience of riding up on their slow lifts, watching a snowboard separate from its rider, lined up perfectly to hit some kid standing around mid-slope... everyone on the lift yells, the standing kid never hears it, and it's like bowling for pre-teens.
