On a recent trip to and fro Delray Beach I mentioned to a friend of mine the "Shock and Awe" of Tuckerman's Ravine. His desire for an adrenaline rush ride down the ravine was\is fueled by your web site Dave and my description, of my view, of this god given terrain. After explaining, as best I could, he still has an obscure understanding of the steepness of the trek up the walls of the ravine. My request to the masses is...Can and will anyone with a pic. depicting the extreme steepness of the trek be kind enough to email it to me, so I can forward it to him? My email address is north_shore64@yahoo.com

Many thanks if anyone out there has a picture that can truly capture the vertical perspective of the climb.

Jim,

View this weeks video of the skier sliding down the chute. At the end of the video it shows climbers towards the top and gives a pretty good perspective of the steepness.

Ahh...Yes Master Do...Very nice indeed. I sent him the link to the video page..Climbing the Chute video is a fairly decent reflection as well. Many thanks to you Master Do.

No photo nor video really conveys the steepness since its 2 dimensional.... toss your friend upon the headwall would work however.

Then again this one should do it...

Somewhere on the site I have a photo looking down on climbers heading up from below... of course because of the steepness my boots show up in the shot.

Speaking of which... just returned from 'Future Shop' (aka Best Buy) with a new Canon ZR60 which I'll be using for this years videos. Hopefully Easter weekend will provide a fine adventurous crowd and some entertaining footage... we shall see.

Hi Judd,

I took that photo from HoJo's. I stood behind the deck area and zoomed in on the 3 guys as they gazed at the ravine.

Exactly, maybe I should bring him to the headwall and give him a little nudge...I told my buddy about tubing 1/3 - 1/2 of the bowl...and his response was..."why didn't you tube from the top" He has no idea of the steep grade...judging from the pictures we found on the web. It's kind of deceiving just viewing the walls from pictures.

I just checked out the canon zr60 on the cnet web site...they gave it an 8.8 out of 10.0 Nice, VERY nice and muchas for the pic...captures the "awe" effect tuck's has on some of us. I'll try and spend some time surfing your site for that other "still" pic you mentioned.
Have a great safe trip Dave...looking forward to your latest video and stills. May the calm winds and warmth of the sun surround your sojourn.
