I am officially member 998, now that I have finally skied Tuck's for the first time.

I did have a question about listed routes.

When I was there everyone kept referring to what I thought was "The Chute" as "Hourglass"
When I look back at the map of the routes it appears as though my first run was Left Gully and my second was The Chute. Any thoughts ?

As far as the experience it was awesome. I was actually more nervous climbing the steep sections than skiing them. In fact the one time I slipped was while climbing Left Gully. I slid for about 30' until my boots dug in enough to arrest my fall.

As I am moving back to the southwest shortly I suspect I won't be back to Tuck's for sometime. It's onto Silverton Mountain in Colorado next winter/spring. http://www.silvertonmountain.com/

New England is always where my heart will be so I will contnue to visit this site.

Hey chuteme, let me be the 1st to welcome you to the board..it's always good to see fresh posts.

I had to reply when I noticed you mentioning the "climb" up being more nerve-racking than the descent; I mean talk about an understatement! Year after year it really is the only thing that truly humbles me.

Sounds like you experienced that instant! outta-control 30' slide-for-life wake up call that makes you think...."man, i'm not going to let that happen again! " That atleast is what goes through my head, it's a real discomforting feeling if you ask me! Silverton (http://www.silvertonmountain.com/) looks like a place you can have a lot of fun, I use to spend a lot of time riding around SW (Tell./Crested Butte), miss it, haven't been out there in a few seasons, real nice place to be. I'll have to keep Silverton in mind if I ever find myself around there again.

btw: hourglass/chute from my run-ins are usually referred to as one in the same.
