View Full Version : One more... How do you divy up the garbage???
We all carry in and carry out... My crew always has a central garbage bag...
If someone leaves early they carry the trash - thats one of our rules... But last year a friend of ours left early injured so we didn't stick to the rule..
We just all grabed trash and stuck it in our own bags and hung it off our packs...

On any camping trip, the food is usually split up, so whatever you bring in that creates trash you bring out.

i usually bring an elwood, so cans, coconuts, what have you can be compacted via his forehead for easy removal! :disinfo: i know for a fact that this elwood is a mithological creature, coconut smashing? on my head i would  so i stick the cans up my :packdonkey:

We use a number of philosophies.
One if you drug it up, you can bring it back. Two...or whoever has more room...Three...I carried it down last time because my buddy was in rough shape.
Here's my worst-tux-expierence and garabage story:
April 14th, 2000 (aka The Year of the Snore): My buddy and I were up in the ravine on thursday night, staying in a 3 sided lean-to and he was snoring like you would not believe. There's always a level of low rumble up there on any night but this was just rediculous. And he was sleeping about a foot from me and kept turning towards me, so I didn't get much sleep thursday night, or friday night. We decided to stay Saturday night and I tried to get to bed first and maybe get some sleep. :o When he came to bed it was just too much, and at about 2am I got up and siad, "That's it, I can't tkae it anymore. I'm going home" and started throwing my stuff into my pack. As I was just about to stumble down the trail in the dark, he sits up and says, "Take the garbage."
I didn't take the garabage. I was pretty steamed for the first little bit of the hike. Then about 1/4mile of the way I stopped for a drink of water and heard something in the woods. I was thinking bear, but it was probably a chipmunk. So I wasn't steamed anymore, just a little scared and kinda digging the whole alone in the woods at night thing. Got to the car around 4am, took a nap and drove home in the sunrise, which was very nice. The rest of that trip was just great.
M@ :ducttape:
I usually don't snore... but I seem to snore my ass off in those shelters...
One year I was up with a friend who was talking in his sleep... He kept saying "Mommy - Mommy"...
He took major abuse for the next couple of days... :)

I can snore with the best of them. It's unfortunate as I feel bad about it but what can I do???
