From SEIU Local 1984 newsletter:

Senate defeats Cannon Mountain lease

The State Senate defeated a bill to privatize Cannon Mountain on Wednesday on a 15-8 vote. Thank you for your outreach to urge Senators to defeat this latest effort to sell off the state’s greatest assets to the lowest bidder.

SB101 would have required DRED to solicit lease proposals for the Cannon Mountain ski area. In spite of strong business support, there was much public opposition to the leasing bill in the hearings. While this is not the first time we have had this fight, we are sure it will not be our last. We are pleased the majority of the Senate recognizes the dedicated State workforce is the best at what they do. Thank you to all DRED employees in the parks system.

This seems to happen pretty much every 3 or 4 years or so.

This is probably one of the few sectors of our economy where I believe the government can do it better. Especially that of New Hampshire....a relatively small government with a K.I.S.S mentality. I can only imagine what would happen if the place was privatized. As it is, the crazy development has kept me away from the 93 corridor ever since I started skiing...which is why I've never been to Cannon. I know...I'm missing out on a gem! I'll get there some day...

Skinning = Skiing!

Okay, okay, it is slower; it's still skiing :D

Even Splitters get to go skiing when there are no lifts...talk about a win/win!
