Once again I must call on the combined wisdom of the forum, I'm headin up to the river for a few days and am looking for some tips on the goods. I'm not looking for any secret spots or anything just point me in the right direction...looking for some trees!! Thanks.

Tin woodsman has some nice spread out trees and blind Ambition can be fun. Flying Monkeys is good when it is open as well.

I haven't skied the River in years but I do remember that the trees between Top Gun & Right Stuff used to see very little skier traffic(as did Top Gun).

Crossbow->Tightwire has an old school mountain feel. If you do some bushwacking to skiers left on Bim's Whim you can find the old Upper Cascade trail remnants.

Vortex is another great trail most people skip.

Have fun!

Sunday River's trees are underrated and they are pretty good. Blind Ambition and Last Tango are mellow with evenly spaced trees. Good for a warm-up or easy glade cruising. Wizard's Gulch is a little steeper and tighter. Tin Woodsman is steep and fun. Flying Monkey and Celestial are pretty much the same -- moderately steep and wide but not as wide as Blind Ambition. For some reason, I haven't skied the glades on White Cap. I ought to do that before the season ends.

If there is new snow, go to the left side of Flying Monkey, the right side of Blind Ambition or Last Tango. Nice, tight and deep variations. Have fun!

"Sunday River's trees are underrated and they are pretty good."

No doubt about this, the rivah is just plain awesome! We were able to find a ton of good spots thanks to you guys and an incassable desire to explore...we were also able to follow a few locals who were not as carefull of there secrets as most, always look whose watching before dropping! The land of OZ is simply amazing Wizzards Gulch and the Flying Monkeys were great, and the place was deserted.

Unmarked goodness first pic -- glades off Bim's Whim on the Locke summit? Never been on Spruce but I've heard stories.

"Unmarked goodness - Spruce Cliffs?"

That area was right off the top of Spruce, and was quite cliffy:)
