Tuckerman Ravine Trail

My wife and I will be in NH later this week. We would like to hike to Hermit Lake where the ranger station is to watch people ski Tuckermans. How long is the hike from Pinkham to the ranger station? What is the trail like this time of year? Can we do it with regular summer hiking boots, or will we need crampons/snowshoes? Should there be a lot of skiing going on this week?

2 hour hike from Pinkham to HoJo's. To watch the skiing in the bowl you'd have to have binoculars or hike up to the bowl (another 35min). Summer hiking boots are fine. Crampons not need. More sun + warm temperatures means more people skiing. If its raining/cold it will be less busy.
