Hey,
So went up yesterday.. What a day.. Rained most of the way to the mountain, was snowing rather moderately in the ravine.. But.. The rain on saturday and then freezing overnight made things delightfully crusty underneath an inch or so of blowing powder. The bowl was intense to climb. Glad we had the crampons..
Speaking of which, we found a place that rents them in Lincoln, NH (exit 32 off 93) rather cheaply and they fit over snowboard boots. A real saver on a day like yesterday. The place is called Outdoor Outfitters and once you take exit 32 in LIncoln and start going towards loon, it's in the first shopping plaza on you right hand side. They rent axes and other climbing gear too.
The Little Headwall is in rough shape. Huge chuks of terrain cracked and fallen into the river (i heard this happened Saturday as well). So the beginning of the ski trail is rather tight and the end is rather bare - look out.
It was still very fun, but now need some warm days to soften the crust. If your edge isn't sharp.. well.. goes without saying.
Cheers,
Timur
