I have had my eyes on a whole bunch of potential skiing opportunities in the whites all spring/summer/fall. I need to really think about some of them, but there are some that are really obvious. I hiked the 48 4000 footers this summer and scoped out some nice looking chutes. Some of the obvious ones that everyone has seen are the chutes off of Lafayette, maybe Flume slide. The big playground that we have our eyes on is Crawford Notch. There's a slide that you can see from Loon (not sure what peak that's on). All but Crawford I've heard rumors of ski descents. Anyone here have any stories they'd like to share. Or any info as to run-out and ease of approach. For instance, in Crawford, it looks like you can pretty much pull over and strap on the crampons in the car and start hiking up. Lafayette looks more challenging. Maybe an approach up the greenleaf, ski down, and how would you get out? It looks and I've heard that getting out might be tricky. I'm just looking for some challenging terrain info on some not-so-popular skiing. Stuff that could be good training for a few dozen tucks trips. We've bagged a few nice secrets along the way, but more info would be helpful. It's a tough one and I understand, but I wish that all of these secrets were talked about more. But, instead of helping legitimate BC skiers like myself, it would entice many idiots with their jeans tucked into their boots to venture into very dangerous situations. Feel free to inform me in any way, about anything, your secret is good with me ;)

Don't know many secrets in the Whites, but I know some VT stashes. Nobody will post any beta on here though simply because of stoopid kids like the two MASSolhes who almost killed themselves at Killington.
I'd be happy to show you some nice stuff in the Notch though!

I'm checking out some guidebook stuff on the Moose, I'm using it as a check on the North Slide type of conditions. I hope to be able to schedule it after seeing the state of things at Moosilauke. Some of us will be checking out the North Slide in just a few weeks...y'all common down, heya!

BCskier, it's all good.
Almost anything is skiable (we have few true huge cliffs), but lots of terrain requires winter hiking/bushwhacking/mountaineering skills to get to and back out from. Be sure you know what you're doing in the woods first; the skiing is largely secondary.
RR, as of the past weekend, the Glencliff/Carriage Road loop on Moosi was in good shape -- 6" of powder on top of a bulletproof base. Didn't check out Gorge Brook, but I suspect some of the rock drops are still scratchy. What trail are you going for, & when?
Rock Drops...kewwl!
We are going up Gorge Brook and maybe down the Snapper...depends on conditions. It's a group trip with "Leaders"...actulaly some cool folks, Dave Metsky is leading. We'll be heading up from Ravine lodge at 8:30 at the latest. If all 11 folks are there at 8AM, we start up at 8.
