I love that term... 'glacier'. Great marketing I say for an eastern resort! Anyways read more about Tenney's opening Oct 4/5 on About.com... Tenney Mountain Glacier in New Hampshire (http://skiing.about.com/b/a/007077.htm)
I hope I have a bit of 'glacier' left in my fridge for a bit of 'rum and coke' tonight! :p

Is tenney even a fun Mtn to hit? Never been, and this whole "glacier" thing is kind of turning me off to EVER even going there to check it out...

Thanks for the link and the pic (the 2nd pic in the article is more interesting IMO)
We were wondering a lot how it would be this weekend. Personnaly, if I lived in NH and had some free time, I would have skied there, cause there is surely some possibilities to just slide without jibbing. The crowd may have been a problem for me, though...
I don't have the time to read all the threads, but in case nobody talked of that, Loveland just started their snowguns for real, today.
"LOD" in less than 10 days

On the other hand, there is absolutely no snow remaining on the Palmer Snowfield of Timberline lodge (except a tiny white spot for surely less than 10 turns). I've never seen it completely brown like today :(
sorry if someone already talked of that

I agree with Elwood, What a dumb name.
Sorry for those who are attached emotionally to the area.

Do people actually pay to ski on that? I've seen bigger patches dumped from a zamboni behind the arena.

No only did people pay, they had to hike. IMO earning your turns is one thing but to pay to earn your turns that's a whole nother bottle of beer.

I am one of those people Ntrent mentioned who are somewhat emotionallly attached to Tenney.
Tenney is a good mountain with good skiing, not great but good. The mountain has struggled over the years and has been closed and reopened many times since I first skied it 25 years ago.
I had big hopes when I heard Dan Eagan was the General Manager. I think the glacier thing is all about hype for the younger crowd. It give the local kids something to do in an area that has next to nothing.
I'll let my opinions be formed on the slopes in December or January. Thought I might head up for this glacier thing but it hardly seems worth it as Jolly J. put it so elequently.
Hey - if it keeps the kids from drinking beer and cow tipping - I'm all for it! :)
Cow tipping is cruel, it breaks the cows.
Leading cows up the stairs to the roof of your high-school is anothing thing though. (Cow's can't be lead down stairs, but the go up with little problem)

OK, its lame, but its still snow when there is no other snow. I was sure SOMEone from TFT would go and make first turns.
We spent the weekend in Vermont hiking among the beautiful foliage during the days, but I was dreaming of snow and :skifemcool: each night! ;)

I had a tuckerman dream the other night - but it was about sleeping in the lean-too's as opposed to skiing. I guess that's fair - you spend far more time in the lean-to then on the head wall.

You can engage in lean-to activities anytime, but how often is it great snow on the TR headwall?
The cows are removed from the roof with a crane. I'm betting the local police have a code: "1039 - cow on roof"
