Well, last weekend brought about a hefty bout of Seasonal Affective Disorder. Fortunately, on the way is a decent dose of just what the doctor ordered...I'm hoping anyway. Just looking for predictions of where it'll be best....I was skiing 30 inches fresh only two weeks ago...I can't take the highs and lows!!! (PUN)
Is this going to be a wind-packed event? Are we expecting leeward sides to fill in nicely? Are we still working on our base? Anyone have any backcountry plans for the new year?
I'm definitely up for a midnight summit, make a camp, and hit up the freshies in the morning....what's Cardigan like?

well, looks like the event tomorrow will be south, meaning a decent amount south of 89 in nh and the jackpot could be at my house with 3-7 inches expected on the west side of the bay in newmarket. i'm gonna go where it snows most, which is usually my mo so i'm gonna tour locally with les to finish off the amazingly wonderful bountiful wholesome goodness of a year that was 2008. the first part of this winter that i call, winter #1 has ended and now with the sudden rush of new cold and potential snow, it's early november again, winter#2, and the epic pow day of dec 22nd may be feb 22nd, but hopefully earlier. to think that i was gonna wait till now to ski, i would've missed a whole winter packed into 2 months.
seacoast pow for us, gonna wait a big storm or two to start "pokin" at big george again. then it's full on vertical gain for the duration. one things fer sure, we'll take what we get and we'll like it, for those that don't like it-move west softies. SNOWIN? WE'RE GOIN!

Rog, as always, your excitement is much appreciated....we're gonna have to hit it up some time soon.....I might swing into EMS one of these days....
What's your gut tell you about Cardigan? Thinking I'd hike up tomorrow night and enjoy the freshies for breakfast...am I dreaming?

my gut says wait, there is a nice crust under any new snow which means at least a base is under there to pad most of the nastiness which come in wood and rock form. i don't like skiing stuff without a good solid base and don't like picking my way around, unless i'm on my lightweight gear, then i'll tolerate it. like this year when folks were milking the sherbie till early may. my last run down it was april 18th.after that i just ski the goods up high and walk down. cardigan? maybe after one more storm of a foot or more. most folks would probably have fun with it, not so much for me. just don't like hittin stuff with my skis. i'll most likely ski snow making trails till we get a couple of feet of snow or just cruise around the seacoast. dreaming? nothin wrong with dreaming. all i know is that if it's snowin south, i'm stayin south. cardigan may too far north.

Yes, Cardigan is definitely going to be too far north for this storm :(
Thinking I might hang around the Berkshires.....maybe hit up Thunderbolt....despite the blow down. I know there is a hut at the summit...anyone ever stay overnight in that thing? Looks cozy....

Jumping ahead a bit, what do we think about tomorrow combined with the potential for Friday?
If both storms team up, might be a real nice day on Saturday morning if you have a southernish stash lined up that won't get hit before then (I think I might...)

lemme know how crotched is if that's where you end up. I'm betting my stomping grounds have too little base for this event to make them good, but we'll see.

Hmmm...I might be up for a skin on pats/crotched with some peeps early. Was thinking about hitting a stash but that sounds good too.

I predict someone with fewer than ten posts asks about going up to the bowl before Spring and whether they can do it.

Wow, that's a stretch...I think you're grasping at straws on that one Matt ;).

That doesn't count. You have to have less than ten posts and have a snappy member name like Psychoskierdude2000 or Newbieboarderguylookingforadviceontucks72. But since you asked, I'd say that if you are able to ski all runs at Killington and haven't had your car repossessed and/or your house foreclosed on due to the cost of lift tickets there, I'd say you can make it anywhere ;)
I predict this will look better in the months ahead, but ain't that a purty sight?
