So, winds are cranking up, out of the northwest, and I thought, hmmm, I wonder what aspects/trails of [fill in the blank] mountain that would favor? Found this website:
http://www.skypic.com/ski.htm
which, in conjunction with Google Terrain maps would seem to provide a pretty useful tool.
If nothing else, it's just a great time waster!

Cool! Nice find B! Now if they could add to the inventory... Like Mt Sunapee(my home hill) and some random BC potentials.

Mmm, yes. I love that site. I've checked it out before, as I love aerial mountain photography. The thought of it conjures images of Brad Washburn, whose photography incidentally has led me to find a (new?) skiable line in a super-large image of Tux hanging in the Highland Center...hmm...not saying anything.
Another handy tool I've found is GIS - helps that I have access to it through UVM. I've taught myself some handy features of it. You can use it to do just about anything - find the aspect, find the slope, find the curvature (so you don't end up in large ditches with no way out). I've made some maps with it...I wonder of what... (geography has always been one of my hobbies)

yeah it seems he could have alot more ski areas but then I see Mountain
Crack in Jersey? Seems like a waste of plane fuel, although I can see where my house is in the one picture.

Cool site...I picked up the Adirondack Slide Guide book while I was home for the holidays and that has some good shots in it.
