I know there are some runners here who have done some 50 milers and even 100 milers.
Well, I am just a beginner and feel pretty good have accomplished 30 miles.
Even took a dive into the ocean to celebrate my finish.
Heres to 40 miles at 40.
Excellent! Take your time and enjoy :cooldog:

Cool and congrats! Quite the milestone. No pun intended. :p :D
Got one of my goals done recently as well.... well sorta... finished the Everest Circuit before I reached 50 even though I had to bail on hitting the base camp(not much worth viewing there anyways). I think I calc'd it out to be 70miles... Gotta recheck it again... might be closer to 67miles.
Regardless of what I do, congrats to you! REPS well earned!

Ah, 40 will not be a problem now that you have done 30. Nice going! Was this an official race?

Good job man. Looks like your ready for a 50K Pineland Farms is in the spring.
How do you even train for one of these things?
I feel happy to run anything over 5!
What great is the achievements of our co-conspirators on this board such as yourself are such that you would have to plot log(achievement) vs number on a histogram..i mean we are all somewhat athletic but there is a good long tail!

How do you train for this?
Well, I am probably not the right person to ask but it was suggester that you you gradually increase your log run. 6 - 8 -10 - 12 - 14, then 8 - 10 - 12 - 14 - 16, then 10 - 12 - 14 -16 -18.
I didn't necessarily follow this. I did a couple ten milers, a 14. 5 miler, a 17 miler and 20 miler, with a couple weeks in between without much running. I rested alot more than I probably should have and did run at all two weeks before my run. I had some weeks where I clocked 30 mile totals and one 40 mile week and one 52 mile week.
I think I was prepaired mentally and nutritionally and that is why I was able to do it without the regimented training. I feel as thought I recovered pretty well.
Yes, I am definately hooked.
How do you train for this?
Any setbacks during training? Did you notice you body rebelling as you bumped up mileage? Sounds like you took it slow and steady.
Nicely done. Nicely done. (rep of course...)
