2: KC's Rib shack
3: Go see "The Journey" ski movie in MHT
2003-11-14: Movie is at 7:30pm, all other times negotiable.
See what happens when you miss Chat people?

I'm all over this like James Bond in action. Already have my ticket, let's find a sand pit and hit the cornice at the top!
Sand pit skiing will be a great way to get psyched up for WM and Journey.

It's a heck of a way to grind down your edges. Find a sandpile (preferably a sand pit without an active backhoe) and see how steep a line you can take.

So whats the date of the next KC's gathering? should we meet prior to the movie on the 14th?
Nothing sounds better than beer, barbeque, beer, ski ****, beer, and ski buddies and more beer.

I can make that... last minute job offers notwithstanding. KCs at 5:30 or so? and I'll need directions to the sand pit.
BG, care to tag along?

When I picked up my Journey tickets the other day they said we should be at the Palace by 6:45 to get good seats on the balcony. So 5:30 would work for a quick beer and eat.
Do we have a definite sand pit location? Skis to sacrifice?

I'll be at that Journey show, along with most of my coworkers, since our company is a sponsor for it. I don't think I can get to KC's in time, but let me know when you'll be at the sand pile (& where it is)!

I'm praying with baited breath that either K-mart or Bretton Woods manages to make enough snow & open next weekend...The forcast says it may happen, and Bretton Woods especially seems pretty competitive to open (see their website).
It's possible that we'll be able to ski on some real stuff instead of sand come next weekend!

BG, care to tag along? Thanks for the ride offer, Skilas, but one showing of Journey (Somerville) will do for me. See you at Redbones this Thursday!

OK BG, I'm going mostly because I can't afford full price lifts this year and Sugarbush is in the valley I visit most.
M@: Where is this mysterious sandpit? what is the schedule of events and are tickets only available at the box office?

Yeah, M@, you said that last weekend you were going to check into a sandpit that was close to where you live. Any luck finding it?
SkiLasLeņas: I couldn't find any info about Journey at the Palace and ended up stumbling on a place that sold them: Ken Jones Ski just off South Willow. Tickets are $15, but they don't accept credit cards (for the tickets), so bring cash.
Schedule of events might be determined by the sand pit location, but we definitely have a 5:30 beer and rib call @ KC's before the movie.

I am ticketed so I'm there.
Still waiting for info on the sandpit though
Snow... er - I mean, SAND pit recon will happen today or tommorow. I'll post co-ords and directions if I find one...
ah - screw it - I'll go do it now. Will post pictures if I find one.

M@: Where is MHT??? I just picked up a great pair of sand skis: Lange 203's....old, straight and sitting on the side of the road with a free sign on them...Al :skistooge:

Nice.. cut those 203's down to about 170 or 180, remount them and you'll be in business.
Stoogie: MHT = Manchester
The sand pit is in Merrimack, about 15min from MHT (which is still Manchester)

So what time?
4:30 Sand pit, then head straight to KC's I think.
How do you cut skiis? I cut one with a dremmel and jig saw, but it was obviously NOT the right way to do it, took forever.

I've used a hack saw on skis with a reasonable degree of success.
4:30 it is.

M@, make sure your neighbor with the bandsaw knows you have metal edges on those skis before you use it.
bandsaws work great for splitting snowboards...
Yeah - I dunno about band saw action - but my neighbor Cliff really likes to help, and lend tools and that sorta stuff. Good neighbor to have, but I think the jig saw might work fine. I'll try it this week.
I still don't know how to mount bindings, any advice on tools we might need for that job would be great.

One thing I know is you'll need a template for the screw holes, one piece for both toe and heel. If they are not just right than the toe and heel won't line up perfectly and you'll have some release issues. A good way to do this might be to remove the bindings and place a peice of construction paper on the ski and replace the bindings. Then transfer the holes on the construction paper to a piece of wood. Or you could call a local ski shop and ask to borrow one. A drill bit stopper would be wise so as to not drill the holes too deep.

M@, I just called Ski&Ride. She got me a ticket through her work, maybe she can get more... No answer but I left her you phone # assuming you are the only one in Merrimac.
Worst case scenario, I'll give you mine, I have seen it already after all... ;)
