I am interested in the camping situation for skiing. Do you need to worry about bears and food. What are the details about parking and hiking to a "spot". I have been looking through the posts and piecing it together, but I am really looking for the definitive guide. Are there several places to camp or is there really just one way to do this. I am thinking about taking the trip this weekend, but I am looking for as much info as posible. Thanks.

I just went up on the 17-19 of May. There is still a lot of snow...definitely hike up Hillman's it's nice and long and less people about 40 degree pitch. About camping there are 8 lean-tos up there..first come first serve...get up there early on FRI and you'll be sure to get a spot. I brought a tent (big mistake...there were only two platforms that were open and all were taken). The lean-to is nice especially if it rains..plenty of space and nice people. Parking is not a problem if you get there early on FRI..one more thing (be smart about packing) go as light as possible 'cause the trek to the shelters is like hopping bolder to bolder http://timefortuckerman.com/ubb/smile.gif for two hours.
